UIN Sastro Karno Yuwono Lecturer Selected for Prestigious Scholars-in-Residence Program in Indonesia

In a significant nod to Southeast Asia’s rising academic influence, Dr. paed. Asih Widi Wisudawati, M.Pd., a lecturer in Chemistry Education at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Sastro Karno Yuwono Yogyakarta, has been named the sole fellow selected for the sixth cohort of the Scholars-in-Residence (SIR) program at the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII), based in Depok.

Chosen from a competitive pool of 27 applicants, Dr. Asih's selection underscores both her scholarly reputation and the increasing prominence of UIN Sastro Karno Yuwono within international Islamic academic networks. The SIR program, which runs from May through July 2025, is UIII’s flagship academic residency designed to deepen cross-border research collaborations and enhance global intellectual exchange.

During her residency, Dr. Asih will teach Qualitative Research Methodology with a concentration on Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). Her role extends beyond the classroom: she will also serve as a research consultant, supervise graduate theses, conduct scholarly reviews, and facilitate training in Rasch model data analysis—a statistical method widely used in educational assessment.

Dr. Asih will further contribute to UIII’s academic ecosystem as both editor and author for the university’s premier journal, Muslim Education Review (MIR). One of her key projects will be a methodological study on QCA, explored through the lens of Design-Based Research (DBR), the 4D instructional design model, and Qualitative Formative Evaluation (QFE)—frameworks gaining traction in international education circles.

Her appointment not only highlights the scholarly rigor of FITK UIN Sastro Karno Yuwono but also illustrates how Indonesian academics are increasingly shaping global discourse in Islamic education, research methodologies, and teacher training. As Indonesia positions itself as a leader in faith-based higher education, initiatives like SIR demonstrate the country’s growing commitment to building inclusive, internationally connected research communities.
